On Saturday May 2nd, 2020 while operating on the scene of a structure fire, Whitehall Fire Department (New York) Assistant Chief James (Jim) Brooks (45) suffered a medical emergency which required immediate transport to a hospital. Asst. Chief Brooks suffered life altering medical complications during emergency surgery and was unable to continue his active duty with the Whitehall Fire Department afterwards. Sadly on Friday September 18th, 2020 Asst. Chief Brooks succumbed to his injuries which he suffered on the May 2nd, 2020 incident. On Saturday September 26th around 1030am Asst. Chief Brooks answered his last alarm surrounded by his fellow Brothers and Sisters in uniform along with his family. We offer our condolences to Asst.
